Unconditional Love

Here's to the people who gave me life
and then showed me how to live it.
And taught me that you measure love
by how freely you can give it.
And the gift I give to you
is the lesson that I learned:
That when a love is true
it asks nothing in return.

Un - con - di - tion - al love__ that they gave to me,
it wasn't mine to keep__ and_ I knew someday
I'd hand it down to you in hopes that I can be t
he one who makes you see
the im - por - tance of
Un - con - di - tion - al love__

Now, there were times I know I let them down,
but never once was I re- jec - ted.
And when I stood a - lone to face this world,
some-how I____ still felt pro - tected.
And that's the com-mon bond we share
and it will last__ through__ the years.
And you can trust that I'll be there__
through the good__ times and__ the tears.

Un - con - di - tion - al love__
like they gave__ to me__
it's not yours to keep__ and__
I knew some-day some-one will look__ to you
and you will have_ to be__
the one who makes him see
the im - por - tance__ of____
Un - con - di - tion - al love__
