LETTER HOME Dear_____ ma-ma: I hope that you're all right; I can hear the thunder rumblin' across the southern sky to-night. Kids are sleep-in', the T. V.'s on__ and I'm sittin here alone, and I just thought I'd write___ this let-ter home. I was the one you were counting on, the family's high school star, when Jimmy and me ran off that summer, must have broken you and daddy's heart; yeah, we didn't need nobody's help, we were eight - teen years and grown, and I never sent a sing - gle let - ter home. Let - ters home,_____ I wrote them in my dreams; ask me if___I'd known__ what I know now _ would it e - ven have changed a thing; the hard-est part of look - ing back is the mis-takes are all your own, it's harder to say___ that in those let - ters home. Jim-my found some - bo - dy else, he told me that on New Year's day; he said he felt like a man with her__ and I watched them drive a-way; the child-ren and rent, there was no time for tears, just time to carry on, I didn't know how to tell you so there was no let - ter home. Workin' the plains_ with some oth - er girls_ and we're all doin' all-right, we raise our kids__ and the jeans still fit__ and some-times we go out_ at night; I'm twenty nine __ years young to-day____ and I've lived them to the bone, and I just wanted to send_ you this let-ter home.
